 This is a report of Dwelling Places’ performance for the period April to June against the 2021 approved work plans.

Our major highlights within this quarter include:

·       91 children rescued/ intercepted within this reporting period (Rescued = 56; Intercepted = 35);

·       39 children successfully reintegrated in safe families and communities;

·       141 children and youths received school fees, scholastic materials and psychosocial support to increase their access to education within this reporting period, although access was still disrupted by the national lockdown;

·       Over 1,000 community members engaged through positive parenting trainings, community dialogues, community case conferences and radio talk shows on prevention of child trafficking and sexual exploitation of children in Napak district.

·       Secured funds and started the construction of the Girls’ Dormitory in Buloba;

·       Secured funds to fully furnish Lomaratoit Primary School;

·       Secured funds to provide COVID 19 relief food packages to over 355 vulnerable families on our support program;

·       Strengthened partnerships that resulted in

o   the mass rescue and rehabilitation of 161 street connected children during the national lockdown; and

o   plans to repatriate 42 Karamojong girls trafficked to Nairobi for exploitation.

Our biggest setback within the quarter was the restricted movements due to the national lockdown which disrupted educational support plans, repatriation and reintegration plans for the 48 children currently resident in the Transitional Rehabilitation Homes and community engagements. Reintegration that was planned for mid-June has been indefinitely postponed resulting in additional costs of rehabilitation beyond the planned period.

3 essential staff also tested C-19 positive which resulted in a mass testing of all the staff and children within the organization. Also, the lockdown resulted in an increased need to provide emergency rescues for 161 street connected children, as well as emergency food support to 355 vulnerable families on our support program. While all these were successfully managed, they all had budget implications on the organization. We are thankful to God for His divine provision at such a time as this.
